Think about potential employers, think about how your skills and knowledge can enhance
an organization. If you can't think of occupations that can use people schooled in the arts and humanities, then go over to
Before You Search and check out our information on
Exploring Career Options.
I have a degree in Music (Performance) from the Boston Conservatory.
After graduation, I worked as a library paraprofessional while freelancing. Some organizations actually preferred to hire
musicians for administrative duties, citing their ability to concentrate on fine detail work for long periods without fatigue.
I also worked as an orchestra librarian before moving into library sciences and obtaining my MLS degree. I still play,
I could still freelance if I wanted, but I never sweat public presentations
because public speaking is much easier than playing the horn in performance.

- Artist Blacksmith's Association of North America
- Among the information on this association is information on where to go
to learn this trade, the journeyman program support by the ABANA, and
discussion groups. The Classifieds includes an area for employment listings,
but it is usually small. Time is better spent reviewing the many other
resources here.
