- ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery
- ACM provides most of their online resources for members, but nonmembers will find several areas open for review. The Chapter listings will connect you to local professionals who share your interests, and many maintain their own web sites. The Career Opportunities are open to the public, but the majority of these listings are for academic positions. ACM members have access to an even larger array of career services, so you may want to consider joining.
- Center for Women and Information Technology
- Based at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, CWIT's primary goal is to promote women's involvement in the IT industry. Visitors to their website will find links to online resources relating to women and information technology (IT) including news, learning the basics of computers, careers in IT, training and certification, and more. There is also a bibliography and a FAQ (with links to many outside resources).
- CompTIA
- ..." a non-profit trade association advancing the global interests of IT professionals and companies, we focus our programs on four main areas: education, certification, advocacy and philanthropy." They have numerous certification programs available and many employers who seek qualified IT personnel with these certifications. Learn about all their offerings on the site.
- Software and Industry Information Association (SIIA)
- ..."the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries." How does that benefit a job seeker? Under "Membership Benefits" you'll find a list of all the member companies ("employers") with links to their websites.
- Creating IT Futures
- This program "provides people with the funding and the training to enter the information technology industry. We fund training and scholarships for students, veterans, individuals with disabilities and others in need." CompTIA works with employers to determine what emerging skills are necessary to work on the latest technologies, and creates certification and non-certification training programs designed to fill these needs. The form is online, and it is easy to complete. Not everyone who applies for the program will be accepted as participation is based on eligibility and available opportunities in your region, but you cannot be selected if you never apply.
- Federal Cyber Service: Scholarship for Service
- "Scholarship For Service (SFS) is a unique program designed to increase and strengthen the cadre of federal information assurance professionals that protect the government's critical information infrastructure. This program provides scholarships that fully fund the typical costs that students pay for books, tuition, and room and board while attending an approved institution of higher learning. Additionally, participants receive stipends of up to $8,000 for undergraduate and $12,000 for graduate students." Funding is available to undergrads in their last 2 years of studies as well as students pursuing grad / PhD degrees. Yes, you will need to "serve" your time in a Federal agency after completing your education, but this looks like an excellent way to pay for college and a good way to get some valuable experience in online security. Only select institutions are participating, so check the most up-to-date list on the website before you begin.

- Founded in 2002, Intrinsic Partners is focused on the Technology, Internet and Media Industries. You can review a list of past searches completed by this firm, and qualified candidates are welcome to submit a resume for consideration.

- Based in London, Cititec specializes in IT jobs for the worldwide financial industry, providing candidates with access to premium IT jobs within the worlds leading investment banks. Visitors can easily search the list of jobs currently posted here, and qualified applicants can apply via email or phone with the consultant listed.
- Clear Creek Information Technology
- ...founded in San Francisco in 1999, Clear Creek recruits for Sales and Technology talent for the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, New York, NY, Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, and Canada-Ontario-Toronto/GTA regions. - ...an Internet-based advertising service that posts technical jobs and career information for the computer professional. The site is divided into geographic and skill areas to make it easier for you to target the opportunities that interest you, but keyword searching is also possible. Part of the Jobserve.us network.
- CORESTAFF
- They have contract, contract-to-hire, and direct hire (permanent) positions listed in numerous fields including IT and various systems engineering positions. Submit your resume in direct response to any posting you see or submit it via their general "submission" page.
- Corner Office Consultants
- ...a technology recruiting company started by IT people for IT people. "We specialize in placing technology professionals nationwide!" Their list of current opportunities is extensive, and if you do not see something that interests you right now they would still like to hear from you and receive a resume. (I'm placing you right into the Job Corner.) Corner Office has also created a free Customizable Career Portal that you can set up to help gather jobs listings specific to your skills and qualifications while it also provides you with free career advice and resources you can use to help you improve your interpersonal skills and job search techniques. The Career Portal is not IT specific, so others should feel free to try it out. And did I mention that it's free?
- Corp-Corp
- A global tech community working to connect recruiters and candidates. They are based in Virginia (no public contact info but the domain registration is public), and the database is huge. Some jobs have contact information for applications in a public spot, but most do not. That means you will have to register your resume in order to see the recruiter and apply for the job listed. Fortunately you can do a lot of searching and reviewing before you must do this. Nice feature -- they do have an indicator for H-1B visas ("need a visa" and "have a visa"). I'll tell you that I did not see anyone saying they would help you acquire an H-1B visa, but there were many listings where the people were willing to talk to current visa holders.
- CV Screen
- ...specialist IT recruiter for the UK with offices throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and NI. They have both permanent and contract opportunities, and you can search their current list of jobs to see if there is something that matches your skills. You are also welcome to register and submit your CV for consideration.
- DevBistro
- ...jobs for programmers and other techie types. Nice feature here -- when you look at one job listing, at the bottom of the page you will find a quick link to other jobs in the same location as well as jobs with the same title. Registration not required unless you want to post your resume here. Check out the Tech Interview questions, lists of technical questions asked during real interviews.
- Dice.com
- ...IS/IT consulting and permanent positions. This site is long established and very popular with employers. Post a skill set for yourself.
- EdgeLink
- ...recruiting top technical professionals for a variety of contract, contract-to-hire and direct hire positions. EdgeLink has offices in Denver (CO) and Portland (OR), but their current list of opportunities includes other states. You can easily search these listings to see if they have something of interest to you, but they are also happy for you to add your resume to their database at any time. Check their blog for some great advice.

EMC is a highly regarded technology firm with a worldwide presence. They have numerous openings in various job fields all around the world. It appears to be an excellent opportunity and offers special incentives in the US for Veterans (I did not see a similar offering in their non-US academy). Please be sure to read all of the relevant information on applying for your geographic region.
- Focus Technology Consulting

Their offices are located in Rockville MD and Herdon VA, but they have opportunities across the country for software and hardware specialists, BI analysts, and administrators. - HIMSS is a cause-based, not-for-profit organization exclusively focused on providing global leadership for the optimal use of information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. They designed their Career Services to be an employment, education, and networking center where all users can connect with educational opportunities, network with others in the field, and search for career opportunities. Persons interested in this field will learn much, and those who are already experienced can learn even more. You can search their JobMine without registering, but you will need to register (free) in order to apply for the openings posted here. This also allows you to upload a resume and cover letter and to create Job Alerts to notify you when new openings are posted that match your interests.

- "Developer jobs for code ninjas." (I think my youngest brother fits that description.) This site allows developers and code ninjas to follow each other, socialize with other developers and really showcase themselves. And for employers to easily find the talent they need for special projects or permanent placement. I know there isn't much here on who is running the site, but his name is Nathan Halldale and he himself is a "code ninja" working for a design / development group in NYC. Yes, you can post a portfolio here (it will be public), but if you prefer to be a stealth ninja, you can just search the jobs and apply at will (all the listings I checked allowed this). I would say for you ninjas this looks pretty cool.

- ...nice looking board with hundreds of IT jobs from all over the world. You can search and review listings, but you will need to register your CV in order to apply for positions listed here.

- ..."our gateway to a collection of technology niched jobsites." This their gateway to almost 50 sites targeted to various areas of technical expertise. Unless you are really that focused (not necessarily recommended in today's market) I would just stick with the big search over the full database. You can also browse by job markets (Manhattan, Boston, Washington DC, etc.). Operated by Jupiter Online Media, a major paper and electronic publisher of technical news.
- MISource
- "Founded in 1999 by technical staffing and recruiting experts, MISource is an international staffing solutions provider focusing on the specialized areas of Information Technology, Telecommunications, and Engineering." They have groups focused on IT, Telecom/Networking, Engineering, and Federal/Defense opportunities, and they welcome your resume submission to their general database or in response to a specific opportunity currently posted. You are also welcome to call with general inquiries or in response to a specific position. There is some demand for persons with security clearances and past DOD experience (hint hint).
- Nigel Frank International
- Technology recruiters and staffing specialists for the world (permanent, contract, and executive). Nigel Frank International specializes in skills in Microsoft Dynamics, Sage and SharePoint technologies, and has a broad client base that covers many countries. You can search their site and sign up for email alerts without having to create a profile and submit your CV. Note: They also seek recruiters for their UK and US offices, multi-lingual skills are highly desirable.

- ...this site supposedly targets just those jobs in Software Engineering. I'm not thrilled with it. It does seem to target some bit of this niche, just not very well.

If you are considering a career in computing, or are an experienced professional who wants to keep up with the latest developments, this is the place to learn everything you need to know about what to expect, where to go, and what to do once you get there. Most readers will want to target in on the Careers area with its job listings, surveys, and career-related articles, but the entire site has much to offer.

- ...an organization of high-tech workers and allies joining together to provide an effective voice in the legislative and corporate arenas, and to advocate for improved benefits and workplace rights. WashTech is a local affiliate of the Communications Workers of America (CWA).
- Webgrrls International
- ...the first and largest global Internet organization for women.
