From the Office of Science Education at NIH, LifeWorks is a wonderful tool to use for exploring careers in science and healthcare -- not just medical fields but also engineering and scientific fields with relationships to health, medicine, and research. You can browse over 100 career descriptions by title, education required, interest area, or median salary (it's not just the MDs in those upper earning brackets). You can also use their Career Finder to help you find the best work for you based on you interests and skills. And, for those of you who already know what you want to do, there's advice on planning your education, starting as early as the 8th grade.

easy to read. This site was compiled by a nurse and several young adults
interested in healthcare professions. The text is from the Occupational Outlook
Handbook, and there are some big omissions (like M.D.), but most of the
professions collected here do not require education / training beyond a
bachelor's degree (note that I said "most"). Many do not require education /
training beyond a 2-year degree, which makes this a good list for some who
are considering this field but are unsure of how much they'd like to invest in
or who are considering career changes that do not require a major investment
in a bachelors or masters degree.

persons interested in this career field, and current practitioners. Run by MPAmedia,
publishers of several alternative health journals, users can scroll down the front
page to get the fastest access to the classified ads (practices for sale, associates
wanted, etc.) and the student information (including a nice "where to practice" feature).

This free services is operated by the ANA but is open to all who wish to use it. Visitors can search and view the job listings, but you will need to create a free account and upload your resume to apply for openings found here. The site includes information on this field, including notes specifically for students, and offers terrific career services for practitioners in the field.
