...Wondering who is behind a web site? Looking for a contact name and / or address? Search their domain and
find out who owns it. I do this a lot, running background checks on web sites, finding out interesting little things like the fact that 2
sites recommending each other with glowing terms but claiming they aren't related are actually run by the same
company....
"TLD" means "Top Level Domain". This is a list of the 2-letter country codes you see in domain names that do not end in .com, .org, or the like. I like this list as a way to better identify where websites are located. This authoritative list is maintained by IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.
What's NSLookup? It's a way to find the IP or numerical address of a site for which you have the domain name. If you are having trouble connecting to a site and constantly get the message "DNS not found", then try searching one of these for the IP address.
If a site has a legitimate IP address, you should see something like this.
