Free Salary Guide from Accountemps
..a summary of the Robert Half and Accountemps Salary Guide, updated annually. You can order a free complete guide online. If this does not work, go to their main page, click on Career Center and select the list of Free Resources.
Charity Navigator's 2007 CEO Compensation Study
Released August 1, 2007, this report summary states that "The top leaders of the 5,242 largest charities in America earn an average salary of $145,270. This represents a modest pay raise of 2.34% over the previous year studied. All together, their salaries add up to over $730 million. Although this is a considerable amount of money, CEO compensation accounts for just 3.37% of the average organization's spending." This is a good overview of CEO pay in the nonprofit sector but also offers advice to contributors on how to judge a nonprofit by how it treats its CEO. (Mega-benefits are not good.)

This is self-reported data, but because it also includes base salary, bonus, raise, job title, location, and optional company name, company size, visitors can have some idea of how the data here relates to their own situations. The most recent data is at the top of the list, but they have info back to 2005 available.
